AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 163‑31 SO AS TO EXTEND THE REGISTRATION PERIOD FOR AN EXTRA WEEK WHERE NEW COUNTYWIDE REGISTRATIONS ARE HELD PRIOR TO ANY PRIMARY OR ELECTION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  That G.S. 163‑31 be amended by changing the period at the end of the first sentence after the word "election" to a semicolon and the following added thereto:

"Provided, that where a new county‑wide registration is ordered to be held in a county, the registration books in such county shall be opened for the registration of voters at nine o'clock A.M. on the fifth Saturday before such election."

Sec. 2.  That all laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
