AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 6 OF CHAPTER 219, PRIVATE LAWS OF 1911, AS REWRITTEN BY CHAPTER 56 OF THE SESSION LAWS OF 1959, RELATING TO THE FILLING OF VACANCIES ON THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD, NORTH CAROLINA.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Section 6 of Chapter 219, Private Laws of 1911, as rewritten by Chapter 56 of the Session Laws of 1959, is hereby amended by adding a new paragraph at the end of said Section 6, to read as follows:

"In case of a vacancy in the membership of said board, caused by death, resignation or any other cause, the remaining members of said board shall fill the vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term or until the next municipal election."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
