A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT designating the shelby livermush festival as the official Fall livermush festival of the state of north carolina and designating the marion community and mcdowell county livermush festival as the official spring livermush FESTIVAL of the state of north carolina.

Whereas, the City of Shelby holds an annual livermush festival on the fourth weekend in October; and

Whereas, the Marion community and McDowell County hold an annual livermush festival on the first Friday in June; and

Whereas, the livermush festivals have grown into great marketing and promotional tools for the Shelby community and Cleveland County and the Marion community and McDowell County; and

Whereas, these livermush festivals should be adopted as the official spring and fall livermush festivals of the State of North Carolina; Now, therefore,

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Chapter 145 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section to read:

"§ 145-35. State spring and fall livermush festivals.

(a)        The Shelby Livermush Festival is adopted as the official fall livermush festival of the State of North Carolina.

(b)        The Marion community and McDowell County Livermush Festival is adopted as the official spring livermush festival of the State of North Carolina."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
