A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to provide that the criminal penalty for the theft of any financial transaction card shall be the same as the criminal penalty for the theft of a credit card which is a Class I felony.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.         G.S. 14-113.9(b) reads as rewritten: 

"(b)      Credit Financial transaction card theft is punishable as provided by G.S. 14-113.17(b)."

SECTION 2.         This act becomes effective September 1, 2011, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
