S257 - Appropriations Act of 2017. (SL 2017-57)

Overview: Sec. 11C.9 of S.L. 2017-57 (SB 257) creates the Foster Care Transitional Living Initiative Fund to support a demonstration project by Youth Villages that provides transitional services for youth aging out of foster care. The goals of the demonstration project include: (1) improving outcomes for youth that transition from foster care through implementation of Transitional Living Services, (2) identifying cost savings in services provided to youth aging out of foster care, and (3) establishing an evidenced-based transitional living program available for all youth aging out of foster care.

This section also amends the purpose and powers of the Permanency Innovation Initiative Oversight Committee to broaden the Committee’s look at initiatives and oversight for programs that support foster care youth transitioning to adulthood.

This section became effective July 1, 2017.
